21st Century Space Disputes: What Makes Them Unique? What Challenges Await?

The 20th century space race fueled international disputes over topics such as parts of northwestern Canada getting contaminated by radioactive debris from a Soviet satellite and a Cuban cow that was fatally wounded by a fragment of a U.S. satellite. Since then, the space industry has evolved and so have the disputes in this field. There are more players in space, not exclusively state entities, but private companies too, even start-ups.
What are the characteristics of space disputes in the 21st century and what challenges await users of international arbitration? The panel will discuss the geopolitical dimensions of space disputes as well as the regulatory and technical challenges.
This course or program has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for a maximum of one credit hour, of which credit one hour can be applied toward the requirement, and one credit hour can be applied toward the requirement.
